Following the success of the 2011 event, the Board of the ESDR has decided to run a second "Future leaders' academy" for gifted young dermatologists that want to pursue an academic career. The event will take place in Barcelona, Spain from 25-27 October 2012 with the topic "Inflammation". Note that this is just a general topic and we encourage applications from young dermatologists with interests in any area of dermatological research.

Renowned scientists have agreed to participate and will provide a special atmosphere of scientific and social interactions. All senior scientists have also agreed to serve as mentors for our participants in order to facilitate the success of our young scientists.

2011 ESDR Academy attendees

The ESDR will cover costs of travel and lodging for accepted candidates in a beautiful environment in Barcelona. Candidates must have shown their ability to perform research in past publications and can apply via the ESDR website.

The deadline for applications is 24 February 2012.

The aim of this academy is to identify gifted young dermatologists at an early stage of their careers and to assist them to form a network with one another and with senior members of our society. The ESDR feels responsible for providing the structures necessary for our young leadership and hopes that this project will facilitate the future success of our young scientists.
